The Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) has gone live with their new website www.baua.de. The focus of the brand new design was user-orientation. A target audience analysis yielded valuable information about the new structure and user navigation. Materna GmbH, the IT service-provider, assisted the Federal Institute with the technical conceptualisation, implementation and migration. A further innovation being that Materna runs the websites, as well as additional BAuA platform clients, as a managed service in a BSI-certified data centre. The design conceptualisation was provided by Berlin-based agency partner, Aperto.
Safe and healthy working conditions represent social progress and a competitive economy. The BAuA conducts research within the area of occupational safety and health, promotes knowledge sharing in practice and consults on policy. Hence, with the relaunch of their websites, the diverse information was structured to be more user-orientated and more searchable by topic. The meticulously planned information architecture makes it easy for site visitors to comfortably navigate the broad information on offer. Clear and reader-friendly text, images and infographics give the user insight into the Institute’s area of expertise. The new, responsive web presence is based on the government content management system, Government Site Builder.
