MAN and PLANTAGE BERLIN have produced an homage to the “real” Santa Clauses on the roads of this world. Because when fame gets to Santa Claus’ head, it’s the MAN truck drivers who make sure that the presents get punctually delivered to the eagerly waiting children. The light-hearted online film can be viewed on the MAN Youtube Channel amongst others.
In the film, one gets to know an unusual side of Santa Claus: Indulged, lazy and bored, he allows himself to be chauffeured around the world in the passenger seat of a MAN TGX truck. Luckily, MAN driver Eddie is behind the wheel. The dedicated tucker brings Santa from house to house, and ultimately takes over the complete job of the bearded (and ever rounder) Christmas figure. Why does he do it? Because he just loves Christmas — and so that his children can also believe in Santa for as long as possible.
“We actively decided against a classic, emotional Christmas film in favour of producing something quirky and funny. This was to thank those who spend their whole year, and especially Christmas time, on the road, making those special moments possible — our truck drivers,” says Bjoern Loose, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Brand at MAN Truck & Bus AG.
It was filmed with and within the MAN Weihnachtstruck that was designed and built with a special attention to detail by the apprentices at the MAN training workshop. Until the 23rd of December, numerous volunteering MAN employees will drive it to select children’s homes and Christmas markets throughout Bavaria.
The Aperto Group has been an agency partner to MAN since 2013. This year, the agency successfully retained its mandate and the cooperation was extended by three years. The current Christmas film was realised by creative agency and subsidiary of the Aperto Group, PLANTAGE BERLIN. It was directed by Christopher Schier and produced by production company, Crossing Berlin.
