International reinforcement: the award-winning digital creative David Linderman expands the creative leadership team of the Berlin digital agency, which has been part of IBM iX since 2016

David Linderman moves back to Berlin after eight years of leadership positions in London and New York: From now on, the former founder of Fork Unstable Media takes over a new role as Executive Creative Director at the digital agency Aperto. Together with the two present ECDs Arne Braun and Marko Thorhauer he will be responsible for the creative and content departments of the agency under the umbrella of IBM iX. Linderman has more than 15 years of international agency and digital experience and will be mainly responsible for further strengthening the combination of creative concepts and technological developments.

Together with Manuel Funk and Jeremy Abbett, David Linderman founded the multimedia Hotshop Fork Unstable Media, based in Hamburg, Berlin and NY in 1996. In 2009 the native-born American switched to the Syzygy-daughter Hi-ReS! London and, in 2011, as managing & creative director of the first Hi-ReS! satellite studio startup
in New York. In 2015 he became a group creative director at the digital agency HUGE, before setting up his own label with Big Hard Drive. In addition, Linderman was professor of graphic and interactive design at the Offenbach University of Art & Design for a period of 5 years and taught Integrated Digital Media at NYU-Poly. Over the last 15 years, he has worked for brands as diverse as Audi USA, David Yurman, Doritos, Helmut Lang, IBM (Watson), Jägermeister, Lincoln Motors, MTV USA, Nivea International, Otto.de., Der Tagesspiegel, Riot Games or WIRED Magazine. Work under his direction has been honored at numerous awards e.g. ADC New York, ADC Deutschland, NY Festivals, the One Show, Clio Award, iF Communication Design Award and the Webby Awards.

Linderman’s fascination with artifical intelligence and IBM Watson began in 2010 as lead for the visual design in a collaboration between Hi-ReS! London and Ogilvy NY offices entitled “The Science Behind an Answer” – a visualization of the IBM Watson ‘thinking’ process and promotion leading up to the historic Jeopardy! match pitting Watson against former winners Brand Rutter and Ken Jennings.
