Berlin, 3 August 2020 - The Deutsche Herzstiftung (German Heart Foundation) is THE point of contact when it comes to heart health. With a new digital presence at www.herzstiftung.de, the organization aims to educate the public about a healthy lifestyle and the possibilities for preventing, diagnosing and treating heart disease – in a modern way, easily accessible and easy to understand.
The outdated, confusing old website, which was not designed for mobile devices, no longer fulfilled this purpose. Thanks to a new information architecture based on the content management system Drupal, modern design and a clear and concise navigation, the website has become an attractive, informative service portal that meets the needs of the approximately 1 million website visitors per month. Aperto was responsible for the concept, design and technical implementation and also developed the content strategy including search engine optimisation (SEO).
"We see it as our duty to provide millions of patients, relatives and interested parties in this country with easy access to reliable and independent medical content. This is why we are investing in the modernization of our entire digital presence and thus in the core area of our information service by tailoring it even more specifically to the individual needs of the many people affected by cardiovascular diseases," emphasizes Martin Vestweber, Managing Director of Deutsche Herzstiftung.
The responsive website offers new, attractive services such as the heart attack risk test with individual recommendation logic, a new search function or an online consultation hour. It furthermore offers important information on heart health in all phases of life – in terms of content, the focus will in future be even more on prevention. Through low-involvement access and the intuitive usability of the site, users can quickly and easily find the information that is relevant to their situation.
The long-term goal of the German Heart Foundation is to significantly reduce the incidence of cardiovascular diseases in Germany and to contribute to further improving the quality of life of heart patients. The improved information and prevention services, which members can use independently of location and terminal equipment, provide the basic prerequisites for this.
About the Deutsche Herzstiftung e.V.
The Deutsche Herzstiftung e. V. (German Heart Foundation), founded in 1979, is the largest patient organisation in the field of cardiovascular diseases in the German-speaking region with more than 109,000 members, including 1,800 parents of children with heart disease. It helps affected adults, adolescents and children and promotes patient-oriented research - motivated by the vision: Nobody should die from heart disease anymore.
The large number of members of the Heart Foundation reflects not least the high acceptance and firm anchoring of the German Heart Foundation. One of its main tasks is to inform patients and other interested parties in an independent way about cardiovascular diseases, their prevention and current diagnostic and therapeutic options. The Heart Foundation is also known for its nationwide education campaigns and as an important funding institution in patient-oriented cardiovascular research. The high quality of the information provided online and in print is due in no small part to the expertise of around 500 renowned cardiologists on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Heart Foundation (the majority of whom are chief physicians and directors of cardiological and cardiosurgical clinics), who work on a voluntary basis as authors, speakers or medical and scientific experts. Chairman of the board is the cardiologist and emergency physician Prof. Dr. med. Dietrich Andresen (Berlin), patron is Barbara Genscher.
