Sparkasse recently repositioned its brand. Aperto is involved in implementing the new brand values and corporate design through an interactive brand portal that is aimed at helping the roughly 240,000 German Sparkasse employees, as well as all affiliated partners, to both understand and live the Sparkasse brand.
In future, everything relating to the Sparkasse brand will be available at markenportal.sparkasse.de. With editorial content, interactive style guides and many additional helpful features; the platform will immediately lessen the load of brand managers and their service providers, offering so much more than the standard downloadable CI guidelines. “The portal allows the new positioning of the Sparkasse brand to be experienced digitally and offers comprehensive service for all branches Germany-wide. It is intended to inspire broader exchange, interaction and identification with the Sparkasse brand. The design of the brand portal is in itself a successful reflection of our corporate identity,” says Alexander Stigler of the Brand Management and Audio Visual Media Department for the German Sparkasse Association.
Detailed information about brand values and goals, interactive design style guides, video tutorials, concrete application scenarios and best practices make the practical implementation of the corporate identity easy. Changes to documents are reflected on the same day and downloads can be easily updated.
If necessary, external users can also be granted restricted access to the portal—which is particularly practical when working with service providers. An intelligent, cross-category search function facilitates the finding of specific content and guides one to the relevant services.

We’re happy to have been able to develop a platform for Sparkasse that, through progressive design and a highly accessible user experience, makes working with the brand that much easier,” explains Marko Thorhauer, Managing Director of Aperto.
Aperto was responsible for the conceptualization and creation of the portal, the information architecture and usability concept, the editorial content production as well as the front- and backend development. The technical implementation was made with the Drupal CMS. The brand portal is optimized for mobile use on tablets and smartphones through its responsive design.
